What's new....

Hey all! Here is our latest feeble attempt at a family picture. Not great, but hey Danica looks adorable. I wish you could see the whole outfit SO CUTE! Next time we get her all spruced up I will take a shot of this GAP get up. Anyway, I digress. This photo was taken after our beautiful niece Madelynn's baptism in Columbia this weekend. We arrived in Columbia on Saturday and went out to dinner with the Heits family, Brian's sister, and grandparents and then woke Sunday to attend the MO United Methodist Church to witness Madelynn's baptism she was great, the service was great and then it was back to Blythe and Brian's for a brunch and then we were on the road again, hoping for a nap from little Miss Danica--we didn't get one out of her on the way to Columbia, but surely on the way home the little tyke would rest---WRONG. But all is well that ends well, right?
So Danica is not a sleeper but goofy she is....who do you think she gets that from? On Thursday, she was at Miss Dana's and took her first 3 steps, but of course she hasn't done it for mom and dad yet. She has also picked up some real quirky habits--she does this nerdy laugh/giggle, shakes her head no so hard she almost topples over, and does a snorty/snuffy thing with her nose all crinkled up it is hilarious! She also has a love affair with the telephone and when our home phone rings, it plays Old McDonald Had A Farm by the way, Danica lets out this super high pitched shreak, too cute for sure! The girl has personality, that she gets from her Dad.
We ate our first meal together as a family last night where we were all eating the same thing--pancakes! It was great to see her "shovel" the pancakes in and grunt for more.
The little girl broke my heart this morning though....she cried when I left her at Miss Dana's this morning, but I didn't turn back. Dana brought Danica to the door and I waved as I pulled away. That was tough, it definately makes you think twice about being a working mom. But hey, we all do the best we can to find balance. Best wishes for a great week!

Random.....and some Danica

Okay, so I hate to admit it and am embarassed but, I have become a fan of The Real Housewives of Orange County. WHY? It is absolutely captivating, and last night I was watching the intriguing season finale, the ladies were having a "bar-b-que" with their families, yes they called this affair that they had a "bar-b-que." Mind you there was no grill even remotely pictured, all of the women were dressed up, no not J Crew sundresses but sequin halter dresses, heels (the one person who showed up in flip flops got made fun of) and bling....let me tell you about the bling. One woman got a 10K Tennis Bracelet from her husband at the "bar b que" and another got a custom Harley Davidson. If that wasn't enough, one woman got all of the other ladies little Coach "wallets" as a gift--or peace offering. I don't know about you but the last bar b que I went to, all I got was a hot dog and some potato chips, I don't even think there was cake served. Anyway, I guess the reason I write is because I felt like I needed to confess but also, how can they call this show reality TV, these women have no idea what reality is. But...I will tune in next week to watch the "reunion" it looks like a couple of the ladies are going to ream one another. If you choose to see what the fuss is about, it's on BRAVO---they have an Atlanta and New York version too. I am not even going to go there!

Danica has ventured into a few more finger foods this week, trying toast at breakfast, with a little bit of butter. Peas and some carrots from the beef stew I made on Wednesday evening. I think she is enjoying not having all of her food pureed. She loves the little Gerber "puffs" and they are what get us through a meal sometimes--little miss independence! I apologize for the picture that you all have seen before I am sure, I had a really cute video of Danica and I playing the Itsy Bitsy Spider but as usual I can't get the darn thing to upload. Maybe someday I will have it mastered.

Peek A Boo!

Kelly and I both got so tickled last night with Danica. Usually the last 30 minutes or so that she is up, we let her play around in just her diaper and last night was no exception. After we got her clothes off of her, she picked up her pants and started putting them up over her face and then quickly pulling them down. It wasn't long and we figured out she was playing peek a boo, so we played along. Pants go up, pants go down, we say peek a boo, Danica laughs. This went on for awhile and we all just giggled. It wasn't long and then she picked up her silk pillowcase she has taken to sometimes snuggling with and started doing it again (just as cute with the pillowcase)! It is truly amazing what these little creatures can do and learn. I am sure this story would be much more entertaining if you could actually see her doing it, which if mom was more talented at capturing video you could have. Anyway, happy Wednesday!

8 Months Old

Danica is 8 months old today and going strong. She has begun to sprout her very first tooth! We had a couple of rough bedtimes because of the pesky thing but overall I think she is handling it well. Danica loves to wave, hates socks & shoes, and is perfecting her clapping each and everyday. Just last night she stood on her own for the longest stretch yet, probably a good 8 seconds or so.

Danica and mommy worked on our very first "art project" on Tuesday night, we made Valentine cards. We used Danica's and my thumb prints in paint to make hearts on the front of our cards. Danica wasn't too sure of the project at first but once we got rolling with them she was content. We are really looking forward to this nice weekend weather being forcasted and hope it holds true!
